ACE+ Community Bus

Toy Libraries Australia would like to extend a huge thank you to ACE+ for allowing us to use your community bus over the weekend! Thanks to ACE+ we were able to run our toy library tour without breaking the bank. As a not-for-profit community run organisation we are so appreciative of the support ACE+ provided us. Thanks again!

Silver Chain have been running the shoppers bus to Belmont Forum for about 6 months now. In that time we have helped a number of lonely and isolated members of the public in the Belmont area get together for a trip to the shops, a cuppa and a chat (usually over the bargains they have secured).

The bus is perfect for clients who have some concerns over balance and mobility as the grab rails and seating are easy to access and comfortable for all. The fuel costs for such a large vehicle are surprisingly low due to the diesel engine and so we are able to continue this service even as budget cuts bite into the community service funding.

I wish to personally thank you and the team at ACE plus for the commitment you have made to the community and quality of the vehicle you provide.

Gerry Selvey, Silver Chain
The WABGA would like to thank Ace + for the generous use of the community bus which made a blind golfing outing to Harvey Golf Club possible. 9 golfers and caddies arrived by bus to play a hotly contested 2 person Ambrose tournament. The day out was considered a great success with everyone enjoying the opportunity to play a very different course, and to spend time with each other on the bus.

The Western Australian Blind Golf Association exists to help those with a vision impairment play golf. We arrange golf games and tournaments in a supportive environment in the Perth area, and can arrange coaching for those who are new to the game. New members are welcome and more information can be found on www.wabga.org.au.

Blind Golf is played strictly to the Rules of Golf with minor modifications. Each player has a sighted coach/guide who describes the hole, helps with club selection and then ensures that the club head is directly behind the ball. From then on it’s down to the blind golfers’ swing and judgement of distance.
